My main research interest is the area of Distributed Real-Time Embedded Systems and a number of related topics and aspects, mainly Wireless Sensor Networks, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Cloud Computing, Data Communication, System Automation, Requirements Specification and Security aspects.

My Research

Unmanned aerial vehicles are becoming a valuable tool for a number of applications. This statement is particularly true when these vehicles are working in cooperative groups and as part of larger systems. However, there are many challenges that have to be addressed in order to get most of them. These challenges motivate my work in this area. Check the interview Prof. Edison gave to the TV show AgroBand about the use of UAVs in precision agriculture (in portuguese - after 3:34).
Emerging technologies in the area of wireless sensor networks, cloud computing and data analytics are enabling cutting edge applications in smart cities and internet of things context. However, bridging the gap between the enabling technologies and the desired applications is a challenging task. The research performed by Prof. Edison covers subjects in this field with promissing reults already published.
